Last night was a testament to how some energy from our fans in Ted Reeve arena can add some energy on the floor. From the first faceoff to the last whistle, yesterday’s game is what Beaches fans expect when Orangeville comes to town. The Beach Boys came out firing in the first period led by the return of captain Jordan Robertson after missing the previous two games. But it was the rookies who also stepped up in a big way. The Beaches led the Northmen 6-4 heading into the second frame. Orangeville woke up in the second period, outscoring the Beaches 7-2¬†and led 11-8 going into the third. But the momentum shifted again as the Beaches started to feed off of the energy of a crowd that was getting excited to see a close finish. The game was tied at 12 with 4:36 left on the clock when the Beaches were given a 4 minute Checking from Behind penalty which Orangeville scored two powerplay goals on. The Northmen would ride out that two goal lead on the way to a 12-14 Beaches lose. Jordan Robertson scored 2 goals and 1 assist in his return, but the offence was led by Derek Downs who scored 4 goals and added 1 assist, Ryan Lee who had 1 goal and 5 assists and Chad Levick who posted 6 assists. Although the team suffered a late game lose, this game proved further that this group of players can compete against anyone in the OJALL and with the fans cheering them on, our Beach Boys are capable of great things. Fans who missed the game can watch it on RogersTV (date to be determined) The Beaches next home game is on June 6th @ 8pm as the Peterborough Lakers are in town. The Beach Boys can use more energy in the “Ted” so don’t miss out on great Beaches lacrosse action.
