On May 21, the Beach Boys travelled to Peterborough to play the Lakers. They left with a lose in which the Beaches led much of the game. Last night, Peterborough came to town for a rematch. It was a wild game throughout as both teams exchanged goals for the first period. Levick, Cook and Cummings scored as the game was tied at 3 at the intermission. It was more of the same in the second period until Peterborough scored twice to close out the period. Cook, Warren and Hulbert scored in the frame and the Lakers led 7-6 going into the third period. An early strike from Hulbert tied the game once more at 7 to start the third, but Peterborough surged forward scoring two goals in less than a minute to take a 9-7 lead. Cue the comeback! With less than five minutes to play, the Beach Boys turned up the heat and pushed hard to the end of the third. Ryan Lee scored at 16:42 to bring the Beaches within one. And with under three minutes to play, Chad Levick tied the game at 9. Then just 20 seconds later, scoring his hat trick goal, Jackson Hulbert scored the eventual game winning goal as the Beaches notched their first win of the summer 10-9. The Beach Boys are proving that perseverance pays off as they seem to be getting better every game. The Beaches will get back at it on Monday as they host the St. Catharines Athletics at the “Ted” @ 8pm.
