Last night the Beaches looked to bounce back after a disappointing lose to the Brampton Excelsiors that ended the Beach Boys four game win streak. The team welcomed the always dangerous Orangeville Northmen for the first meeting of two this summer. The Beach Boys put the loss in the previous game behind them and turned out a performance for the ages.

The first period began a tight contest between both clubs but the Beaches opened the scoring four minutes in as Ryan MacSpadyen scored. Aaron Forster also scored with assistant captain Anthony Joaquim adding a pair of his own. The Beach Boys led 4-1 after the 1st period.

The 2nd period featured a fury of Beaches offense unlike anything fans have seen this summer. Aaron Forster scores his second of the game only 20 seconds into the second frame. The Northmen would eventually answer but that was the beginning of the end for Orangeville. Led by John St. John, the Beach Boys exploded for six straight goals with St. John scoring 4 of them and Jake Cook and Garrett Lewis adding solo markers. The Beaches led 11-3 going into the second intermission.

The third period was a tighter affair as the Beaches defence held the Northmen to only two more goals while St. John scored his 5th goal of the game and Marcus Minichiello added an empty netter to wrap up the win for the Beach Boys 13-5.

Starting goalie Michael Lalani had his best game of the summer only allowing 5 goals on the Northmen’s 62 shots and also picking up his 5th win of the season. The Beaches now try to start a new winning streak as they travel to Brampton on Friday night. The teams next home game is this Sunday, June 21 @ 3pm vs. Burlington.
